big update on this rainy tuesdayi'm sure some of you already noticed the releases on psycho v records from brooklyn. one of the main acts is a crew called widow prizum, which consists of cosmic ray (also member of alien nation) and his cousin ikiea. they grew up in the marcy projects of brooklyn.

i want to focus on the first three releases they put out (at least i think they are the first ones).
alongside with the widow prizum crew you'll also find the b.o.d. click (money bazz, mr. jig, dj wick) and a french mc called k-pee on these records. the french connection went on as they released a full length cd called "a brooklyn kind of life" in '01 recorded in france.

Hi, there is also another 12" on Psycho V/Hostile Records/ Virgin France called Polo feat Zoundwavez "Hot Time". It contains the "Crab Niggaz Freestyle" track which is slightly different from the one of Widow Prizum. What I'm still wondering about is the Marcy Projects. It was mentioned alot but it's hard to find some more informations what the Marcy Projects exactly was.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure but it is possible that Benjamin Deffe was the one who had the connection to France.
He runs the label Funk La Planet were Phoenix Orions first solo 12" was released which has the same sticker where the upper part is white and the lower part is black. Its a controversial record because my version was probably released in Europe with wrong credits of which the producer didn't had a clue about. Publishing of the both producers wasn't even credited, too! To come back to Benjamin Deffe, he is probably french and I think that through his connections the Alien Nation(Cosmic Ray, Phoenix Orion, Naptron and Supernatural) also had features on releases from Rockin' Squat and his group Assassin...
I thought about bringing in some more light into the Alien Nation/Widow Prizum/ Marcy Projects stuff.
I'm chasing Phoenix Orions releases for years now...
