chicago strikes back...i got this dope white label two years ago. the record has two tracks which were both produced by jay nice. he gets backup by lyrics of mr shane. jr of the molemen told me this record came out in '04 but probably had been recorded earlier. he didn't know if it was ever released commercially. he had never seen it in stores and thought it was limited.

my joint here is "mars". i love the lord finesse cut-up.

last(?) piece of the domestic violence (voilence) puzzle. this is pretzel's logic's solo release from '95. unlike on the other releases on this label, all tracks are produced by kuzin biff and not by pretzel himself...but maybe that's just another alias of him. you get two more mc's spittin on this 12" but i don't know their artist names. the two versions of "the promo" are my joints on here.

i don't know much about this group. i have two records; one is their debut ep from '96 on amenta rkrds and the other one is an ep on the same label from '97 with tracks by various artists incl. one new c4 joint. all c4 tracks are produced by c4 and jiggy joe aka joe nightmen. the label is based in georgia, but i'm not sure if that applies for the artists as well.

interesting update today...i dug out records by trigga, whose "new york carjack" 12" should be quite popular nowadays.

i think his first releases were the two coney island gankstas records from '92 and '93. unfortunately i'm not able to serve you with audio for these right now.

due to the fact that trigga grew up with john "mook" gibbons (manager of the wu-tang clan back then), he became an affiliate to protect ya neck records, which then dropped his above-mentioned solo release "new york carjack" in 1995. (this got rereleased on hot wax in '96)

this group is a little treasure from vancouver, canada. they had their debut 12" "peeps" in '95 on mocca recording group, were featured on the bomb hip hop compilation from '97 with the joint "dues" and dropped their full length "360°" one year later on bomb as well. i have to say, the lp is so damn slept on (and still available on the webpage), while the 12" is harder to get nowadays.

here's what bomb hip-hop writes:

"Vancouver-based Cipher breathes new life into a hip-hop world run-down by repetitive styles, and played-out gimmicks. The duo, consisting of Clean (producer/engineer) and G² (lyricist/DJ), have been cutting tracks together since 1991. Clean and G² first hooked up during some late night studio sessions in Boston, where the two we attending college to study music. After obtaining his degree from Boston's world-renowned Berklee College of Music, Clean established his own production company and fully equipped 24-track studio in Vancouver and the two continued to work on their material. Cipher's independent debut single & video 'Peeps' released in 1995 proved that the combination of G²'s fierce lyrics and Clean's manipulation behind the boards would be successful. The video for 'Peeps' landed the #2 position on MuchMusic's RAP CITY and the record received plenty of airplay on Canada's Radio Hip-Hop Shows. really overlooked mc from queens i think. he had his debut 12" "soul search'n" in '95, then dropped three joints on the survival series project (featuring trybal men on the flipside) with support from réyel, khaliyl & syquawn and finally put out his third strike in '96 with the "soul search'n remix" single. on the last record he added "d.o.t." to his name- da original troopa. all records were released on 4,5,6 records from queens.

all these records are highly recommended.
