[instrumentals] kick back / canada

i have another great instrumental package for you guys today! we're heading over to canada, where kick back blesses us with 12 joints. i found his youtube-channel a while back- and i was amazed by his works!

«I'm a 26 year old Hip Hop Head/producer from Edmonton, Canada. I dig through crates of soul, jazz, funk, and library music, mostly from the 60's and 70's. My style can be hardcore, smooth, and hypnotic. I prefer to put a 90's feel on all my joints, because i grew up listening to boom bap, its the only sound i can relate to. I have such a deep love for Hip Hop, my mind will never be tainted or brainwashed by mainstream music, as i plan on making the same, 90s style beats, for decades to come.

Influences:

Reggie Noble, Pete Rock, Grap Luva, Nick Wiz, Buckwild, DJ Premier, Guru(RIP), K Def, Damu The Fudgemunk, Easy Mo Bee, Xtra P, Fredro Starr(Onyx), Roc Raida(RIP), Lord Finesse, & Showbiz, The Artifacts, Redman, K Banger, Miilkbone,
Da Youngstas, Illegal, Das EFX, Cella Dwellas, Kardinal Offishall, Cipher, Down 2 Erf, Da Grassroots, MOP, Lost Boyz, Onyx.

What I currently use:

Numark TTUSB (USB Turntable), Audacity, FL Studio 7»

i also have to mention a collabo he made earlier this year with k-banger, which is also dope- particularly for 2010!

k banger - ode to new york (kick back production/2010)

«K Banger is an emcee from New Jersey, who is currently signed to the label 45 Scientific. He was involved with music at an early age, and Hip Hop throughout the 90's. K has been affiliated with Miilkbone and Nick Wiz, as well as Scienz of Life in the past, and present. He was also featured on one of the illest joints from the mid 90's...

«Dirty Delaney» - Miilkbone ft K Banger (Produced by Nick Wiz)

This is how I found out about K Banger...Although it never made Miilkbone's 95' LP "Da Miilkrate", it was finally released on "Nick Wiz - Cellar Sounds vol 1", in 2008. I contacted K Banger on youtube early 2010, and offered up some beats. We've only released one single, "Ode To New York", that was recorded in 2010. We are currently working on a few joints for his upcoming LP in 2011, and an LP of our own for late 2011."

K Banger has 2 previous albums:

Stillborn Lives - released in 2002 through Dirt Department, Inc. &
Truth Be Told -  released in 2007 through Shaman Work Recordings. Both can be purchased online or on iTunes.»

shrlock da madman

«i try to maintain and keep this rap thing true, new york might be dope but richmond brothers got flavor too!»

i couldn't start this one better than with this quote from the featured mc itself. i present to you this record by shrlock da madman on rolling records from '96. some of you might already be aware of this 12". i also featured «for what it was» on my volume 5 mix back in '07. shrlock da madman is from virginia and has nothing to do with sherlock from sweden. i don't know if that's his only record out there- enlighten me if you know more.

i like the whole record, but i stick straight to the last track. also, a full track with the intro beat would have been nice too! keep your eyes open for this one.

[hanDJob talks to] dj gerard (reggie capers)

Once again my man hanDJob returns with another interesting interview. this time he talked to dj gerard aka brother black from queens. you should at least know him from the reggie capers releases (four years ago i posted their second 12" on sound plus rhythm).

[instrumentals] timeless / germany

our second presenter in the beats section is corccey aka timeless beats from germany. i stumbled across his beats on his youtube channel a while ago.

«My name is "Timeless". I come from germany & I'm 18 years old. I started makin beats back in summer 2008 at the age of 16.

I chose the name Timeless because True School hip hop what other people call underground hip hop today is timeless. I mean there are tons of true school albums that people still remember til today. I've been listening to hip hop since '99 and since then it became pretty much the leading thing in my life. My inspiration comes from countless producers (Pete Rock, DJ Premier, 9th Wonder & Large P just to name a few of them).

I don't use a MPC. Just like "Bugseed" i use FL Studio 8 and i'm completely happy with it. In the beginning i've kept my production pretty much simple, but after a long time makin beats my style of makin beats became more & more advanced.

The reason why hip hop is so important to me is that it helped me going through tough times and made me express myself with my beats. Makin music was one of the reasons why i never started smokin' or drinkin'... to keep my head clean for new ideas.»

cannabis

one more unrevealed record from the darkside mix– cannabis with their '94 twelve inch «represent no question»

all i see is they are from connecticut and go by the names kaseem, craig & frog. this was put out on linda records and together they represent the ghetto link production. the freestyle version is where it's at, the street mix is more a different instrumental-theme.

[remixes] sp.cifyk / france

here we go with our first remix package from france!

sp.cifyk sent me over these joints, which were made in '04. all tracks are produced by him except for the common remix, which is by dee wax.

spcifyk dj /producer from the south val de marne area (bonneuil sur marne). my passion for hip hop began in the early 80's by practicing dancing such as smurf and breakdance. then in the 90's i started doing graffiti for various projects.
after collecting records and lots of hip hop magazines i decided to buy some equipment and to build my own home studio in '96.

my influences are dj premier, dj spinna, large pro, pete rock, the uhmma, lord finesse, buckwild, the beatminerz, etc. but of course also other genres are very important in my beatmaking life. soul, funk, jazz and jazz rock to salsa, bossa nova, movie soundtracks to more obscure styles of music. [sp.cifyk]

BLANK FASIZ

interesting group from the providence area.

Blank Fasiz is made up of two members, the first being Aftamaf who believes that the music that Blank Fasiz puts out has to have a positive message. The other member is KWE, which stands for knowledge, wisdom, and equality. Blank Fasiz like many other artists have had to struggle, both financially and mentally. They have waited patiently, all the while, honing their craft and gathering knowledge and experiences. That is what makes them the hot-ticket in the hip-hop scene. They have a powerful positive message to give the listeners, and their fans are a loyal, positive following. They feel that the positive message in their lyrics is what makes their music unique. Blank Fasiz goes back to around 1995 when Aftamaf, KWE, and Mike Franco met in Providence. They formed the New Realm Record label, so that they could pursue their dream of positive hip-hop.They felt that the genre has far too much sex and violence in the lyrics, which is a bad influence for the youth. So, they undertook the self appointed position of teaching fans that a more positive type of hip-hop is in the groove. Blank Fasiz has a mission to complete, and we can expect to hear some powerful messages coming out of New Realm Records and Blank Fasiz.

here i have their first two releases from '98 (probably recorded in '97) on new realm records. somehow i never bought their «we came to blaze» ep from '99, which is solid as well. my winners are "mofa", "m.s.e.i.n.a.s." and "hartford park".
