da bade snacha aka dbs

it looks like the summer break is over!

hanDJob returns with another dope interview with DBS from jersey.

«DBS:       Well the HIGHDADEATH song and BRICK CITY (you know this is where I‘ll be) was a single cd I put out on the streets...which did pretty good. Fed me for the summer and half of the winter. I’ve been in touch with Kryme  and if we start to see a demand for DBS then it’s on. Vinyl and everything else. I always believed overseas was the place for my music. They appreciate the art form and have a better respect for the music....»

As usual we come with its 12" from '97 on word of mouth, plus some amazing bonus joints! i love the 12", and «highdadeath» is THE joint (check it out below)! it's time to put this out on vinyl with instrumental!

[instrumentals] kick back / canada

i have another great instrumental package for you guys today! we're heading over to canada, where kick back blesses us with 12 joints. i found his youtube-channel a while back- and i was amazed by his works!

«I'm a 26 year old Hip Hop Head/producer from Edmonton, Canada. I dig through crates of soul, jazz, funk, and library music, mostly from the 60's and 70's. My style can be hardcore, smooth, and hypnotic. I prefer to put a 90's feel on all my joints, because i grew up listening to boom bap, its the only sound i can relate to. I have such a deep love for Hip Hop, my mind will never be tainted or brainwashed by mainstream music, as i plan on making the same, 90s style beats, for decades to come.

Influences:

Reggie Noble, Pete Rock, Grap Luva, Nick Wiz, Buckwild, DJ Premier, Guru(RIP), K Def, Damu The Fudgemunk, Easy Mo Bee, Xtra P, Fredro Starr(Onyx), Roc Raida(RIP), Lord Finesse, & Showbiz, The Artifacts, Redman, K Banger, Miilkbone,
Da Youngstas, Illegal, Das EFX, Cella Dwellas, Kardinal Offishall, Cipher, Down 2 Erf, Da Grassroots, MOP, Lost Boyz, Onyx.

What I currently use:

Numark TTUSB (USB Turntable), Audacity, FL Studio 7»

i also have to mention a collabo he made earlier this year with k-banger, which is also dope- particularly for 2010!

k banger - ode to new york (kick back production/2010)

«K Banger is an emcee from New Jersey, who is currently signed to the label 45 Scientific. He was involved with music at an early age, and Hip Hop throughout the 90's. K has been affiliated with Miilkbone and Nick Wiz, as well as Scienz of Life in the past, and present. He was also featured on one of the illest joints from the mid 90's...

«Dirty Delaney» - Miilkbone ft K Banger (Produced by Nick Wiz)

This is how I found out about K Banger...Although it never made Miilkbone's 95' LP "Da Miilkrate", it was finally released on "Nick Wiz - Cellar Sounds vol 1", in 2008. I contacted K Banger on youtube early 2010, and offered up some beats. We've only released one single, "Ode To New York", that was recorded in 2010. We are currently working on a few joints for his upcoming LP in 2011, and an LP of our own for late 2011."

K Banger has 2 previous albums:

Stillborn Lives - released in 2002 through Dirt Department, Inc. &
Truth Be Told -  released in 2007 through Shaman Work Recordings. Both can be purchased online or on iTunes.»

the crash crew

over two years ago we had the slum brothers special up and were questioning if the solo record by a guy called reggie reg was by the same reggie reg known from the slum brothers crew. some time later handjob informed me that it was a different mc spittin on there. actually an mc of the crash crew fam.

so here i come with a little nugget called the real hip hop. pressed up in '96 on mind bending music, which also released a few chris styles 12"s. the crash crew debuted in '82 and consisted of reggie reg, barry b-stro, g-man, shubee, ek mike c and dj darryl c (rip). on this mid 90ies indy comeback you'll get 'em all back on the mic. even dj darryl c has his lines. additionally you'll hear an uncredited female emcee.

i really feel this record and advise you to keep your eyes open! other than most other pictures on the net, my copy is purple and not blue. i'm not sure about which pressing came first. maybe we should compare the run-out-grooves!

native trinity

thanks for your patience— as a staying power award i have some ill stuff for you today!

it took me some time to finally get this baby last year. braby face and r-sun from citrus hill aka orange, new jersey, build the group native trinity.

this is their debut single from '94 on d.m.s. recordings. this dope record comes packed with two tracks, which both were produced by immortal productions. i think they have at least one more record on echo, but there might be even more out there.

da enfatry

let's stay in jersey

da enfatry put out this 12" on 03/20/1997- well that's what the run-out says. not much info about the group. i think that was the only record they released. both tracks were produced by bnm (http://shaimond.com/), who later became a filmmaker too.

"I've always loved music, and I first made my mark in music as a DJ. From 1990-1998, I played at weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, etc. I produced for various Hip-Hop artists. In 1997, I released a Hip-Hop single (on vinyl) with the group Da Enfatry. I also produced songs for Kice of Course Hip-Hop debut album "Only a Few Will Understand" released in 2000. Musically, I used to use the name BNM, but now it's Shaimond. Around 2002, in addition to Hip Hop, I also started producing and writing R&B and Gospel music."

kice of course and steady roc are still in the rapgame, check 'em at myspace.

hardwe're

jersey in full effect!

a while back my man ed told me about a dope record by a jersey group called hardwe're.

"Dope production and hardcore rhymes. They talk on one track, where they seriously go after an ex-crew member, about how Jay-Z and Rocafella wanted to sign them but this guy fucked the thing up by refusing (R-O-C wanted the whole crew)"

after getting the twelve incher i knew what he meant.

the group includes k-mak (producer/dj) and hardwe're's "hype man" deuce (mc). i think after this 12" they did demo's for the main stream market for labels such as jive, def jam or roc-a-fella. k-mak began his hip-hop career as "little seven," a 13-year-old break dancer with the newark group hassan and 7-11.

i'm not sure what they are up to nowadays, but while james stokes (k-mak) runs his own clothing business at http://7flavaz.com, dante daily (deuce) teamed up with his younger brother bless to form a producer collabo named the soul diggaz.

my shit here is "real niggaz" of course. but "1, 2, 3 (corrupt thoughts)" is nice as well. i think this must be from '96 or '97. i'm sorry for the clean edit of 1, 2, 3.. my copy looks perfect but skips during the street version.

blaque spurm

why not remain it in the depths of the contract recording company?!

another crew on the jersey label was a kombo called blaque spurm. their probably first release was put out on ill labels (5one6) and features two tracks produced by grizz & prodige.

i guess one year later the five artists, namely stylze, papa doc, cuba, j-nap and fyne teamed up with tony d, to release a four cut strong ep on contract. i have to say...every song on this release is dope.

my joints on these two records are "the cycle", "pack ya shit" and "splendid". great stuff folks!

scott lark da sensei

trenton, new jersey

an mc called scott lark da sensei hooks up with the famous producer tony d to release two records in '95 & '96. with his unique nasal rapstyle, lark flows over smooth beats, which fit to the whole concept.

these twelve inches were released on contract, that put out plenty of other dope releases (watch my future posts).

"the movie" is the winner here. this track is dope as fuck..and i nearly forgot about it!

the slum brothers

"reggie reg, my style is mad fat,
plus i can make denzel look like craig mack,

i'm all that, when i rap to basslines and fat tracks,

the ni**ers are wack they need to step the f**k back"
yeah it's the slum brothers! nowadays most indy heads are aware of this crew from jersey with mc reggie reg aka reginald dempsey and his characteristical rhymestyle. unfortunately i once again do not have much background info on this crew.

interesting thing; besides the three releases most people heard of, there are three more records related to them. the first one is a 2nd press of the '96 12" stop fronting. this came out two years later in '98 on scientific recordings, which already released fool's paradise. note that the sides are switched on the rerelease.

then, there are two more releases by an mc reggie reg. apparently this guy is from jersey as well but somehow he has a different rhymestyle than the reggie reg we knew from the slum brothers. i only got the one release of the two and can't say i'm 100% sure that this is the same guy. i think that's lakim shabazz mentioned on the label as producer for "nj connection".

all things considered, i still stick to "regular niggers". i love that track since the day i first heard it.
