powermoves

since the creators lp featured one of my favorite uk mc's i thought i'd dedicate this post to him. i'm talking about m.c.m..when i first heard his voice i thought this was mister voodoo from the natural elements fam..but it was one of the members of the group caveman with a solo project.

here you get his '94 release. put out on a white label (i have seen a picture cover version as well). you'll find 3 tracks on it and they are pure butter! straight on up again is produced by the creators. i don't know who did the others. me personally, i kinda stick to the soul remix.

let me know how you like this!

M.C.M. "POWERMOVES" 12" '94

1. POWERMOVES
2. STRAIGHT ON UP
3. POWERMOVES (SOUL-REMIX)

Nice post AG!

My memory is a bit hazy so don't hold me to this but I believe this was pressed by MCM himself through Ariola in Germany and was never officially released.

The story was MCM was briefly signed to Payday through the ffrr / London records side. He used the same sample (Johnny Pate - The Look of Love) as Buckwild for the remix of Show & AG's 'You Know Now' for the original version of 'Powermoves'.

An argument took place over who would use the sample first which ultimately ended his brief time with the label. Neither version was officially released and the rest is history.

MCM is still making beats and representing the UK lovely.

Love the blog - keep up the good work!!
