midnight blue

did you know that on the same label, who brought you the two eightball 12"s, another rapper had his debut!? i'm talking about chris lowe, who put out his first record on urban music for the masses in '93. you get featurings by ill pedestrians and anda. i can not tell you too much about this record but "midnight blue" has a smooth and jazzy vibe on it i really like. "can i hit it" is pretty similar but sounds rougher thanks to a new drum set. definitely worth checkin out and another personal grower.

natural mystics

another two records from the domestic violence entertainment record label, who already brought you the two c.h.a.o.s. twelve inches.

featured artists are natural mystics. both releases are from '96 and both are produced by pretzel's logic (as usual on dve).

"Natural Mystics has a refreshing sound that gives you that feelin of listenin to hiphop back in '89. Pretzel's Logic produces a smooth track with a harmonizing flute running through the chorus that grabs you instantly. Natural Mystics have rhymes to backup the dope production. This track is flavah. Tha B-side "1 Life 2 Live" describes Natural Mystic's destroying wack emcees. These kids continue to flow lovely."

both records are really nice. ain't so has additional scratches by rob swift. looks like there is one last release left on dve...keep on checkin...

shadowz in the dark

here you go. i'm not sure when this came out...but it must have been around '97-'98. nick wiz and chrome are credited as producers on two tracks..i'm not sure who did the last one. on "snake charmers" you get a featuring by shabaam sahdeeq (he had a featuring by shadowz in the dark on his debut 12" "it could happen" in '96 as well). my joint here is "black clouds". but the whole record is really nice.

SHADOWZ IN THE DARK 12" '9x

1. FATIGEZ
2. BLACK CLOUDS
3. SNAKE CHARMERS (FEAT. SHABAAM SAHDEEQ)

from the same family there is a 1997 solo release by one of the members of shadowz in the dark and also member of shadez of brooklyn. snake aka bo-constricta comes with three joints all produced by cee and rich blak from the beatminerz fame. i like "rich + switch" and "the set-up darkside mix" best.

to be honest, i like the shadowz in the dark 12" more..but i have rarely seen this record on the web, so keep your eyes open.

2. THE SET-UP (WEST COAST MIX)

finsta bundy / dysfunkshunal familee

a few years back when i thought i knew all finsta records i discovered this ep on bazarro records. released in '97 it contained six fresh cuts by finsta bundy and the dysfunkshunal familee.

i think i don't have to tell you too much about finsta bundy...but as for the dysfunkshunal familee (braindead, d-rock, dj bazarro); they or part of them had more releases before and after this ep. i'm pretty sure i'll post more soon.

i really like this ep..especially a few tracks on there.

it's real

waddup folks!

updates have been rare this week, so what about a double package to start the weekend!?

first record is a dope promo only release by mic geronimo with two kutmasta kurt remixes of it's real on it. surely the a-side is the winner here but the computalove mix has its points as well. this came out in '95 and also exists with sticker cover.

for the second part of this post you get bran g's twelve inch from philly. "all out" is my joint here. production is '95 as well.

MIC GERONIMO PROMO '95

"IT'S REAL (KUTMASTA KURT REMIX)"

mass influence

i've decided to come up with something more quiet after the prt post...so i thought what about the first two singles of atlantas mass influence (formerly known as yall so stupid)!?

the records date from '97 and '98 and were released on elemental recordings. group members were h2o, audessey, cognito, bruce blacc, j-sun, spearhead x and applejac. unfortunately the group split up in 2002. check the soundfiles 'cause both 12"s are butter...same as the full length they dropped in '99 called "the underground science"!

MASS INFLUENCE 12" '97

"LIFE TO THE MC"
"UNDER PRESSURE"

MASS INFLUENCE 12" '98

"SPACE CASES"

perverted rym throwwa

in '97 scientists of sounds records released a 12" by an mc called perverted rym throwwa. the record with "mcees ain't sayin' nuthin'" and "can we get it on" sounded different than the indy records at that time and was a heavy underground sleeper instantly.

about a year later, whiteowl entertainment put out prt's second release. they packed the two previously released tracks on it (with a slightly different mastering), plus a brand new track called dime piece, which could never really please me. heavy stuff! grab it and have a listen...or two..or three...it will grow!

PERVERTED RYM THROWWA 12" '97

"MCEES AIN'T SAYIN' NUTHIN'"
"CAN WE GET IT ON"

c.h.a.o.s.

brand new post in a brand new year with a brand new design. i hope all of you have passed the holidays more or less healthy.

todays records come from a small indy record label out of new york called domestic violence entertainment (later on dve records). i've decided to up these two first but keep on checkin' crates of ag for more releases on this label.

c.h.a.o.s. had two records on dve, but unfortunately both of them are undated..my guess is the yellow one came first around ('95-'96) and the red one dropped one year later. both records are produced by pretzel's logic, who kinda produced every song for dve. "the iwakening" is my favorite.

C.H.A.O.S. 12" '95/6

"DEATH STALKS"
"TRUE M.P."

C.H.A.O.S. 12" '96/7
