big sha of zig zag zig

okay, this is my baby right here. big sha of zig zag zig with a promo on funkin' records. 3 tracks - 3 bombs! i featured «reload the clip remix» on our last deerhuntaz mix (missing joint #4).

i'm not sure if it is the same big sha as featured on the black fase ep, but apparently this was produced by mista sinista of the x-men. that's all i got.

share your knowledge in the comments section!

[hanDJob talks to] dj gerard (reggie capers)

Once again my man hanDJob returns with another interesting interview. this time he talked to dj gerard aka brother black from queens. you should at least know him from the reggie capers releases (four years ago i posted their second 12" on sound plus rhythm).

«hanDJob: To start this, please share some history about the time you got into music, like how it was back then. How it all started.

Dj Gerard: I started DJing at 13 years old, in Lefrak City Queens NY. This was where and when I received my first DJ set, It was BSR TURNTABLES, AND A UP AND DOWN CROSS GEMINI MIXER AND A REALISTIC AMP FROM RADIO SHACK. To this day...»

yep, and you know how we do [at least the leechers out there, who don't read one line we post]! once again we come with some exclusives! dj gerard blessed us with two unreleased reggie capers joints. fellas, they are hot, check the videos below! and to make the package perfect, we also share their '95 debut release «she can't love me». plus i also packed in the suspect 12" again- like that you'll get all 3 releases in this download. dope stuff!

in july 2007 i started a new series on my blog- the mission was to show acts from other countries than the united staates or canada. well...there were no more posts after denmark yet. so today i decided to post some dutch records.

i have chosen cmc records, which was launched in 1995 by rené phillips & brian busby. the groups which got the most attention were two outta millions and e-life. but there are much more if you look at the discogs catalog.

i came here today to give you listening pleasure to three records of the cmc family.

i'm aware of the fact that the two outta millions ep had been posted before, but please check out the others as well. the proov / alee split 12" is my shit!

it seems like i can hardly offer any info about records and artists lately...

and here's another example– phil da phunk from ny. it's from '95 on 40 dog records. production credits by dj babe, black 'n' mild and anthony singleton.

i randomly bought this record on ebay a few years back and i don't regret it. roc da myk pt.2 is my joint.

ra-capone / ra-kapone

a happy new year fam!

after some blogging holidays i've chosen to come back with two records from ra-capone.

unfortunately, i got no info here! all i see is that he slightly changed his name on the second release. both are on d&d records which makes me believe he's from the bronx (?). help me out here kids!

anyway, both are growers and shouldn't be too hard to get!

oh and by the way, are you bored at work or got no more free disk space on your computer– then check my lastfm profile (button on the left). all my mixes are available for live stream and download!

smoked out productions / 3 years crates of ag

for those that slept– Crates of AG is stepping into its fourth year of existence! how many blogs out there can say that?! but now enough of self-praising. i guess a lot of you noticed the lack of updates during the last year...i just have a lot going on, that's it. but i'll do my best. on the other hand you've had a lot of mixtapes for free coming from my side, which in my opinion is even better than vinyl-rips.

for this special occasion i thought i should come up with something extra dope. so i grabbed two records by one of my favorite groups out of ny from the mid 90ies– smoked out productions!

the first time i've heard of them was of course while trading cd's with my man alex from sweden. this had to be in '98 i guess. it then took me ages to find out that al tariq, black attack (aka sean black) and problemz even had an earlier release, which was said to be even better. ed catto spilled the beans about it on smalltime hustle. and thanks to sureshot over at dwg i tracked down a copy later on.

read ed's article, that's all i can say.

i also attached a joint of problemz spitting over the styles beat on the underground airplay mixtape cassette from '96.

and now back up kids and check the styles! amazing stuff!

SMOKED OUT PRODUCTIONS 12" '94

1. BACK UP KID (THAT'S WHAT YOU GET)
2. AW YEAH
3. PHASES

SMOKED OUT PRODUCTIONS 12" '95

btw: the sales will go on! there's still a lot of niceness available.

i will be away from tuesday(28th) until friday(31th). i'll answer all emails coming in after monday night on saturday.
