mc googly / poison ladd s.l.r. 2x12"
SOLID GROUND RECORDS PRESENTS
MC GOOGLY - BEATS IN GENERAL - POISON LADD S.L.R. 2x12" LP
Mc Googly – Aka – William Daniels ("The Public Enemy Of Philly") born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. (North Philly) in 1967, moved to The logan section of Philadelphia in 1980, where he first witnessed hip hop at its finest. We’re talking 2 Turntables and a microphone. Well known Dj’s like Disco Rat, Disco Poo Sex Machine, would be off the hook with performances, with rappers, and rap groups.
His study of the rap game had him rapping at the early age of 13 sounding just as good as the older rappers. In 1983 he met Ronald Potts known then as Mc Rockwell (aka) Poison Ladd at Olney Highschool in Philadelphia where the challenge each other to take there skills to the next level. Shortly after, they met Wayne Rhoads know then as Big which they later named Extortionist B (aka) Beats In General and they formed a group (Boys Of Doom) they produced a sound that still today is ringing in the public ear. They were considered one of the hottest groups in philly at that time, but still no shine in 1984.
In 1987 the Boys Of Doom had to part due to Mc Googly’s incarceration which he did a 2 year sentence. His incarceration helped him perfect his rap skills, Mc Googly returned to the group B.O.D. in 1989 and recorded several solo songs but violated his parole and returned right back to prison until 1992. By then B.O.D. was no more, and Ronald Potts, & Wayne Rhoads became Poison Ladd S.L.R. – Beats In General., so Mc Googly moved on as a solo artist recording various hip hop songs throughout the 90’s. We hope you enjoy the many lost treasures of Mc Googly, One of the illest Mc’s of philly.

This release features a lost member of the crew Mc Googly “The Public Enemy of Philly”. This Ep features never released songs recorded 1989, 1994, 1995 & 1997. “Ghetto Soldiers” the Ep title track was the first song recorded under the OTR record label in 1989. That year Mc Googly was incarcerated and the record was never released. Added to this package is another classic unreleased 12” single, Black Pussy 1994 / Red Wagon 1993 & bonus verse Yo - Yo - Yo! “Black Pussy ” is Poison Ladd's view of the explicit encounters of a promiscous black woman. the ruggedn'ess & madd drama

i don't think i have to explain too much about our next group. philly's finest ruggedn'ess & madd drama. this is their debut record i believe. it's from '93 and on kixx records, where one year later redd bull appeared. apparently this also is the first release of kixx records (kixx01).
both tracks are dope! nevertheless, "comin' at 'cha" is my joint!
as extra special delicacy i upped a video of them live on stage performing "me and my squad". to be honest, i can't remember where i have this footage from. the year should be '94/'95 . this is super fucking dope! check it out!

da funk

i will reveal the missing piece of my crates of ag the series vol. 5 mix today (s'up khrist).
we need to go to the depths of philly, where you can find a crew called da funk. with the help by the legendary dj miz and eyse of the tasc 4orce (now naam brigade) fame, they released this amazing 12" in '96 on bedrock productions.

"On their recent single, "Money," Da Funk weaves elements of new and old school. Crisp beats combine with smooth grooving funk guitar, pulsing keyboards and sweet soul vocalizing. "Whoever said money can't buy you happiness didn't buy the right stuff," proclaims rappers Ken and Eyse with a delivery that pumps ferocious energy into a laid-back soundscape. The thematic terrain isn't anything new, but the rapping is executed with enough percussive panache to make it seem fresh."
1. MONEY
2. YOU CAN COME AND GET DONE
3. LIFESTYLE

"lifestyle" and "money" is my shit. pretty hard to get i believe.
enjoy

cipha
what's the point in fading out the year of release during the outro of a song? i don't know, but that is exactly what cipha did. maybe a try to let dj's play the record even years later. anyway, i think they're from philly and consist of kid flex and solomon. looking at their real names they could even be brothers.
i like two of the three cuts of this 12" on sojourn records. while "rock rock on" has a calmative mellow vibe, "scared ta die" brings the drama. as i said before, the year of release is not mentioned on the label and during "rock rock on" it is censored. my guess is '96/'97.
i have not seen any other material by them.

215 asasinz

"This single received major airplay in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. The single topped number 1 on Power 99’s Radio Active countdown and number 3 on the Urban Ground magazine top ten Hit list. This Recognition helped to nominate 215 asasinz for “Da Buzz Awards” not to mention the sale of close to 15,000 units in ‘mom and pop’ stores in the philly, South Jersey and Delaware area alone."
i guess the lp they were working on never got completed as several members of the group obviously moved out of Philadelphia to go to college and for job opportunities.

it's real
waddup folks!
updates have been rare this week, so what about a double package to start the weekend!?
first record is a dope promo only release by mic geronimo with two kutmasta kurt remixes of it's real on it. surely the a-side is the winner here but the computalove mix has its points as well. this came out in '95 and also exists with sticker cover.
for the second part of this post you get bran g's twelve inch from philly. "all out" is my joint here. production is '95 as well.
