announcements

what's up fam, it has been a while!
today i want to inform you about two things.

Ill Distracxion Reissue

after the ill distracxion special back in june, pliz wrote several messages in the comments section about a reissue they would do. there was also a paypal-button on his myspace page involved. some people already paid and did not hear any news afterwards. i received emails concerning this problem on a daily basis. i fully understood, i mean, i hosted those promises on my page. but after several emails with pliz a few months ago, i never got confirmation of a pressing or release date. also, my last emails never got answered. so, i just wanted to tell you guys that i'm officially taking my hands off this whole project. don't get me wrong- i'd love to see the promised 12" happen, but i just can't take the responsibility for this for my readers. but please keep me informed, if there is a movement in the process.

Still Another 1-4-U-2-N-V Reissue

for all the heads out there, who are not only listening to good mid 90ies joints- poison ladd slr & beats in general, who just returned back in the game a few months ago with the unreleased 100x lp, will bring you another great project- a new limited edition collectors vinyl including (1987) rock the 808/ i need juanita, 12 inch / (1991) another 1-4-U-2-N-V, ep / (1985) rockwell live freestyle, ft d.j. speedy jay / (1993) i put you to rest 12 inch / frank white/ stand up!

the crash crew

over two years ago we had the slum brothers special up and were questioning if the solo record by a guy called reggie reg was by the same reggie reg known from the slum brothers crew. some time later handjob informed me that it was a different mc spittin on there. actually an mc of the crash crew fam.

so here i come with a little nugget called the real hip hop. pressed up in '96 on mind bending music, which also released a few chris styles 12"s. the crash crew debuted in '82 and consisted of reggie reg, barry b-stro, g-man, shubee, ek mike c and dj darryl c (rip). on this mid 90ies indy comeback you'll get 'em all back on the mic. even dj darryl c has his lines. additionally you'll hear an uncredited female emcee.

i really feel this record and advise you to keep your eyes open! other than most other pictures on the net, my copy is purple and not blue. i'm not sure about which pressing came first. maybe we should compare the run-out-grooves!

[remixes] frankensteeno / germany

it's time for some super dope remixes! again, they come from a beatmaker out of germany called frankensteeno!

"Yo this is Frankensteeno, representing Müllebridge City in the Tri-Country Corn'. I've been making beats for about six or seven years now. I use Musicmaker, Wavelab and sometimes Reason to play a bass or something (shoutout to Skeletor... no expensive shit needed!). These remixes you're about to hear were mostly made between 2004 and 2007 I guess, the Mobb Deep one and McGruff - Exquisite are dated last year and McGruff - Creep is a new beat from august. I'm always lookin for samples that have a nice melody and that shiny feel on 'em, so there ain't no rugged and raw shit on here.

I hope you enjoy my beats, I definitely did while creating them... Feedback's appreciated.

Shoutouts to Georgy Whistler, Terror Volker, DJ Dieter Dirty, DJ Megabrutal, Lyrixxx da Don, MC Tight MC, Ticco, Sone2 and to all those I forgot...

-Frankensteeno"

1. femme fatale - 1999
2. children of the corn - american dream
3. mcgruff - exquisite
4. kool g rap - foul cats
5. mobb deep - survival of the fittest
6. o.c. - time's up
7. big l - flamboyant
8. mcgruff - creep
9. big l - bonus track

i have to say- some of these blew me away! the two mcgruff remixes are sick to death! they're playing in an endless loop over here!

now fill the comments section with props. what's your favorite one? frankensteeno, i want more!

90 prophets

here's one missing joint from my side of the deerhuntaz-mixtape from early march 2008- it's the 90 prophets from queens!

this is once again one of those records i don't have much info about. this 12" is two tracks strong and was released on 9p records. i think it turned up once or twice the last few months. it seems a bit hard to find though. a sick release in my opinion, check it out!

superscientifiku

one of europe's best indy records ever in my opinion- superscientifikus "syntax & semantics" ep from 1999.

this was the debut release of the swedish crew, which would later on change its name to just supersci. members are: arka, erik l, dj observe, mr. noun & remedeeh. you also get featurings by kashal-tee and phonetik on this ep.

this white label is huge and was limited to 317 copies if i remember correctly. now, ten years later they can look back on a grown catalog of releases, including exclusive japan only projects. check the catalog here.

there are four cuts on this record, and three of them come with a mellow and jazzy vibe as we love it! this piece of wax only turns up like once every two years, so keep your eyes open. one more time big shout out to dr. apostolos aka swedish-rap-wax-teacher!

SUPERSCIENTIFIKU "SYNTAX & SEMANTICS" EP '99

1. SUPERSCIENDIFFICULT
2. SYNTAX & SEMANTICS
3. FLIP FAST FEAT. KASHAL-TEE
4. TREMENDOUS FEAT. PHONETIK

extra, extra! breaking news!

not too many updates here lately, i know. but i have been working on a new project. and today i will unveil that– i present you CRATES OF AG DELICATESSEN!

on http://akuttrecords.blogspot.com you can find
regular, obscure and rare records for sale. most of the records have a set price- first come, first served. nevertheless, in some cases i will take offers as well. those items will be marked.

right now, there are about 50 records listed, and more will come. it even has a newsletter,
which informs you of the newest additions to the catalog. just use the registration form on the right side for that.

the whole concept is described on the front page. so please have a look at it. i have to mention, that the site still runs in beta-mode. this means there are still a few bugs on there. for example: records within a letter are not listed alphabetically. Also there is no option to get a view of the whole alphabet. I'm working on a solution for this.

well, that's about it. go over there, and check out the stock.

as promo special, the
first order gets free airmail shipping.

qwy ba' ba', l' anka ba' ba' & shamar da boonkie

okay, these must be the craziest names i've seen on a record for a long time!– qwy ba' ba', l' anka ba' ba' & shamar da boonkie!

hey i can't tell you nuttin'! it's from '95 on fresh start records from new york. same track on both sides (you get an additional r n b hook on the flipside). their rhymestyle is pretty special and reminds me a bit of the bush babees.

solid track, check it out! and please fill my gap, should you know anything about them!

[remixes] verge / usa

and were back in business! after a short absence, i'm proud to anounce the third chapter of remixes done by the readers of crates of ag! this time we got none other than mister verge from the t.r.o.y. blog!

I must first apologize for the sound quality of most of these mp3s. They're radio rips from a show on WPRB that I used to co-host and they were produced from around 2003 to 2004. I've noticed that at that time I was doing a lot of beats that had slowed down samples.

Juggaknots Good Morning remix uses an extremely slowed down sample from a Jazz record that isn't too obscure. At the end of the song, if you're into 70's funk, you'll catch a clue of what was used.

Shabazz Death Be The Penalty remix also has a slowed down sample, but this time you can tell at a certain point. I thought it gave it a raw feel the way it seems to go off and get back on. You'll know what I mean when you hear it.

The Masta Killa remix was actually a guest verse from an Afu Ra cut. I guess I wasn't really feeling the Afu lyrics, so I took the Masta Killa verse and gave it it's own beat. Pretty simple, yet effective. I like how the change up comes in when he starts rhyming about the female.

For the Street Smartz Problemz remix, I gave it a chopped up to death soul sample. Nothing can compare to the og of this song, but I wanted to give it a bluesy feel to match the lyrics. I included the instrumental for this one because it was supposed to be used by an emcee, so I re hooked it a lot better.

Large Pro/J Love Rap Professionals remix is actually a pretty intricately chopped and re assembled beat. I hope to find that instrumental so you can really hear the little nuances that really make that beat good.

That Big L Put It On remix is actually the only one in high quality audio. I gotta thank Vaporized from Philaflava for re blending that one for me. I used a slowed down moaning sample from the Lord Of The Rings record from 1972.

Again, I apologize for the sound quality. I suffered a couple of very huge vinyl losses since these were created and no longer have ANY of these records to re do the remixes with. :( But if anyone really needs any of them, I'll do what I can. Thanks for listening. Peace, Verge

you'll get 6 amazing remixes! i really feel all of them! similar to skeletor, there is a mellow, mystic and grimey touch all over them!

tracklist:

1. big l - put it on (verge remix)
2. juggaknots - good morning (verge remix)
3. large professor - rap professionals (verge remix)
4. masta killa verse (verge-no-afu-remix)
5. shabazz the disciple - death be the penalty (verge remix)
6. street smartz - problemz (verge remix)

thanks for the dopeness verge, and make sure you keep on producing!

tru comers- the remix ep / competition

finally, switzerland enters the indy scene with a brillant remix ep by the tru comers! none other than the freestyle professors, the alps cru and the dysfunkshunal familee are featured on this little nugget here on comin tru records!

"two and a half years ago we did a remix project with beats of us no one intended to use. we added accapellas and here's the final result:

http://sns-crates.blogspot.com/2007/04/tru-comers-remix-project.html

then in the beginning of 2008 we thought we should do another remix project– but this time on vinyl! so we asked several artists for exclusive accapellas and in the end we managed to get these three and then started to produce the beats for them. unfortunately the whole project really took its time...

the tru comers are dj sperrow and dj x-pert. we are producing beats since the age of 14/15 and we also did the scratches on this remixes.

This product is strictly non profit- we're even if we manage to sell each and every copy."

what can you expect of this ep? well, you'll get 3 remixes, the 3 instrumentals, plus 2 bonus beats. the record is limited to 300 copies. the best thing– it only costs $20, which in my opinion is pretty cheap nowadays. also, they are offering a tru comers t-shirt.

again, i'm honored to bless my readers with full tracks– big up for that! and, you know me... i have 1 FREE COPY TO GIVE AWAY!

the competition:

to win this you have to download their first remix project, then send an email to cratesofag at hispeed dot ch in which you tell me how many tracks the first tru comers project had (excluding intro and instrumentals). all correct answers will get numbered in the exact same order as i received them. then i will play dice. the first throw will decide how many times i roll the die, and then every run will be added. for example: first throw says 3- then i have to roll the die three times resulting in these numbers: 4 + 2 + 3 = 9. answer number 9 won. this competition ends on 1. august 2009!
